Loll Harper - Yoga Teacher
I first discovered yoga over twenty years ago dipping in and out of sessions, but I didn't completely fall in love with it until I moved to France in 2012, where I met a teacher who really ignited my passion. I was drawn to her dynamic Ashtanga Vinyasa Flows, and started a Mysore style self practice. It was a style I'd never experienced before and I was amazed at how it alleviated my stresses and invited more balance in to my life. It made me feel stronger mentally and physically, on and off the mat. Yoga is more than just random poses. It is the relationship that is built between the body, the mind and the breath. Deciding to deepen my knowledge of yoga, I then trained as a yoga teacher in India, studying the traditional Ashtanga sequences in order to develop a solid foundation of asana and alignment. Alignments, modifications, contraindications and use of yoga props as well as hands-on adjustment techniques have all been part of my training. Since travelling to India I've immersed myself in my yoga practice and studying the teachings. I believe that yoga can allow us to find balance amongst the chaos and i'm passionate about the benefits that yoga and breathwork can bring to all aspects of life.
Having also trained in Mindfullness, Cognitive Brain Therapy, Massage and Nutrition, l believe in the power of mind, body balance. I'm an advocate of yoga and mindfulness in the community and believe it should be available to all, so when I'm not leading sessions in the studio or guiding one to ones, I offer free sessions to those unable to otherwise access it. I currently guide young adults with disabilities and a local women's group for refugee/asylum seeking women. I have also recently set up a retreat company with two of my very good friends and am looking forward to yoga-ing all over the world.
My classes range from powerful to playful, energising to relaxing and are accessible to everyone, regardless of experience. The benefits a regular practise can bring you are numerous and fitness level, age, gender, size and flexibility don't matter, because there are modifications for every pose. Yoga can be practised by anyone. It’s all about exploring your limits, not striving for perfection. It's a great way to get in tune with your body and your inner self and connect to the world around you.
I support Blossom Yoga Wear because they are a UK based brand and the amount of different styles of pants they have available is amazing! I love the array of colours, that they dont budge when moving and I recommend them to everyone!
