3 Yoga Ways To Create A Calmer Christmas…

Yoga Practice

It may be the most wonderful time of the year, but there’s no denying that Christmas can also be anything from mildly stressful to full on hectic! Very few of us manage to escape the unfortunate pressures of preparation that seem to come hand in hand with the holiday season. To keep yogi’s everywhere feeling as zen as can be, here are our 3 top tips for making this Christmas a calmer one…

1. Karma Christmas

It might sound corny, but it’s always good to remind yourself of the true meaning of Christmas. We can end up feeling the burden to spend too much, eat too much and do too much. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with enjoying the gift giving, parties and celebration that comes at this time of year, you don’t have to do any of those things to have a truly Happy Christmas. The concept of Karma yoga is performing selfless action. Humbling yourself in the service of others is a fantastic way to get in touch with the real message of Christmas. Whether it’s volunteering in your community, taking some goodies to a local food bank or even helping a busy friend out with their Xmas shopping...spreading the love will help create a Karma Christmas for all!

2. Mindful Moments

Perhaps you’re lucky enough to be one of the 0.2 percent of people who find full on intense family time an absolute delight. We’re pleased for you, we really are, but the rest of us may find ourselves internally counting to ten to keep our cool on more than one occasion this Christmas. Take time to notice your breath, thoughts, body sensations and feelings.

No matter where we go or what we do this December, practicing mindfulness to bring our attention to the present moment and our surroundings can improve our mental wellbeing.

3. De-stressing yoga routine

With so much going on, our regular routines and healthy habits often go out of the window at Christmas time. Maybe you can’t make it to your usual yoga class, or you’re just so busy elsewhere that a little “me time” yoga doesn’t seem possible. Fitting even just a 10 minute yin yoga session into your day could be just what you need for creating a calmer Christmas. It doesn’t need to be complicated, even committing to doing a few yoga asanas at bedtime can work wonders.

Whilst we hope here at Blossom Yoga Wear that you find a new pair of fabulously funky printed yoga pants stuffed into your stocking this year to make you smile, most of all we hope you have a calm Christmas full of joyful cheer!
